Representatives of Colliers Serbia attended The Fourth Annual Conference: The Real Estate Market in South East Europe, organized by Ekonomist Media Group. Conference addressed some of the most pressing issues in this domain, such as: where is the Real Estate Market in South East Europe heading in the current market conditions? Special attention was dedicated to residential construction, shopping malls and the consequences of the world economic crisis.

Jelena Jevremovic, Colliers’ Retail Manager, participated in the panel concerning shopping malls, along with ministers and representatives of renowned local and international companies.
Having discussed the retail market and the impact of the world economic crisis on investors and lessees, she has concluded that in the second half of 2008 the retail market continued developing completely normally, regardless of the initial effects of the crisis, and the end of the year has resulted with new retail developments across Serbia. “Regardless of the crisis, some cities are primary for retail development- Belgrade, Kragujevac, Nis and Novi Sad”, says Jelena Jevremovic. The crisis will affect the investors in the manner that they will pay more attention to operational costs and ask for alternative solutions in order to reduce those expenses. Many investors started focusing on energy efficiency, installing new cooling and heating systems in the shopping centers, which will initially cost more, but it will contribute to decreased operational costs during the center’s life cycle.
