Development

Anticipating the extraordinary growth of Chicago’s industrial marketplace, Colliers, Bennett & Kahnweiler in 1996 created the Development Services Group.  This department is a legacy of the company’s founding partners, Marshall Bennett  and Louis Kahnweiler, who pioneered industrial development throughout the United States, including the 2,300-acre Centex Industrial Park in Elk Grove Village.

Today, we exhibit the forward thinking of our founders with developments such as the Goose Island Industrial Campus, Chicago’s most modern in-city business park.   In the true spirit of creative real estate solutions, we revived an obsolete building at this site by raising the roof to accommodate the ceiling-height needs of today’s industrial user.

Other developments within the City of Chicago including the 350,000 square foot Pepsi-Cola General Bottling facility and the Chicago Transit Authority’s 350,000 square foot supply depot further showcase Colliers, Bennett & Kahnweiler’s creative vision.  Virtually all of our development activity is an outgrowth of brokerage services wherein we identify and act upon marketplace demand.

As developers we have truly walked in our client’s shoes and we understand their perspective.  That makes Colliers, Bennett & Kahnweiler uniquely suited to provide superior service to our brokerage clientele.  The experience our professionals gain from our own development projects provides them with unique insights unparalleled in the brokerage industry.
